There is so much to do within a short drive from Cullasaja Cabin. Everything from fishing the Cullasaja River, whitewater rafting the Nantahala, hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail, riding the Polar Express, visiting some breweries in town, or just relax on the back deck.
There is so much to do, it's just up to you!
HIKING
On a clear day, stand on top of Wayah Bald, situated along the Appalachian Trail and Bartram Trail, and gaze across the rolling Blue Ridge Mountains and into the Little Tennessee River below. Listen to the flowing water of the Nantahala River at the U.S. Forest Service’s Standing Indian Campground, or visit one of several waterfalls in the area.
FISHING
Some trout fishing can be done on the river nearby on the Cullasaja river. There are tours offered by an outfitter in town. The rivers around the area are full of trout.
RIVER RAFTING
WATERFALLS
Take a ride down Highlands Road and see Dry Falls right off of the road. Only a short 1/4 mile walk to a waterfall you can walk behind and feel the spray!
Besides this waterfall, there are many more within a short drive and hike!
Some of the best whitewater rafting can be found in Western Carolina, very close to where the Cullasaja Cabin is located. Depending on the class of river rafting you are looking for, you can find it within a short drive.
LOCAL SHOPPING/BREWERIES
In town and just a short distance away in some of the other area mountain towns are some of the best breweries in Western Carolina. Enjoy a beer while others in your group shop the quaint downtown.
